Working with Gender-Expansive and Transgender Children (March 2020)
When working with gender-expansive and transgender youth in any capacity, it is crucial to have a compassionate understanding of how one's gender identity or gender expression impacts the child and their ability to be authentic. In this webinar, participants will learn (or review) basic language for discussing and understanding gender-expansive and or transgender youth. We discussed the differences between and interactions of various aspects of children's gender identity and gender expression. We explored the concept of gender dysphoria, how it impacts transgender youth, and interventions available to them including social transition and beyond. Most importantly, we discussed the best ways to support, affirm, and advocate for these young individuals.
